Learning inDesign on the fly

Hello all.

It has definitely been a while. But I’ve been super busy learning about the healthcare world at South Shore Health System. I took over editing and writing the internal newsletter about six months ago. But this month, I added the ability to design the newsletter in-house with our new graphic designer.

Amanda Petersen, a colleague of mine, built a shell for me in inDesign and then just let me run wild with the concepts of putting together Shorelines.

I’m reading a great book called Mindset: The New Psychology of Success by Carol S. Dweck, Ph.D. She speaks about the need to be in a “growth mindset” to be successful. It’s not about what you know and staying there. It’s all about growing your skills.

So that’s what I’m doing lately, especially with inDesign. I want to sharpen my skills and get better each time I sit in front of the computer.

Have a look at Shorelines below. This Special Edition came out just in time for the opening of the new Richard and Joann Aubut Critical Care Unit at South Shore Hospital. It was one of the biggest events the Hospital and Health System has put on in some time.

Thanks.
