Bentley Going For Title

The mission statement for the Bentley women’s basketball team is almost complete. Almost.

The Falcons have one more game tonight (March 28) against West Texas A&M. The winner goes home with the Div. 2 NCAA National Championship.

A title would be the first one for Barbara Stevens and her Bentley program. Kind of hard to believe that a coach who has 916 career victories doesn’t have a title to go with it.

I sat with Stevens and several of the Falcons’ leaders before the season began. They talked about a hunger after failing to make the Elite Eight last season. They felt like they let a real opportunity go by the wayside.

This season Bentley has played 34 games and won 34 games. All that stands in the way between Bentley and history is one game. Here is a feature story I wrote in the Boston Herald to find out the emotions of the players and Stevens as they head into this game.
